“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn’t be, and what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?” – Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, 1951
I adore Alice in Wonderland – the movies, the stories, all of it! I have been working on a series of Alice themed bentos, inspired by my favorite shoes, my favorite bento box, the 1951 Disney movie and my absolute favorite version, the 1985 two part movie, which I believe was made for television. I recently was able to locate the DVD of it on Amazon, and it’s even better than I had remembered – sharing it with my kid a few weeks ago was nothing short of amazing.
Over the next few days I’ll be publishing my series of Alice inspired bento lunches – I hope you enjoy them! So without further ado…
The time has come my little friends, to talk of other things, of sandwiches and vegetables and fruit, of hummus and eggs…
(with apologies to the Walrus…)
Up first we have a lunch inspired by the Queen of Heart’s Croquet Field, where the Playing Cards are painting the roses red.
