Ever since I was a little kid, I have adored books. From the time my kid was born, we have read together almost every single night. I have shared many of my favorite childhood books and we’ve also discovered tons of new books together!
About a year ago, we were given “Hooray for Amanda & Her Alligator” by Mo Willems, and it quickly became a favorite in our house. The artwork is awesome and fun, the story has a lot of funny details, and the messages it has about friendship, jealousy and prejudice are presented in a way that young children can understand and absorb.
Here’s a Literary Lunch inspired by the charming “Hooray for Amanda & her Alligator!”
In our PlanetBox Launch:
Whole Wheat Bread with Sunbutter and Superfruit Spread, made with a Fred & Friends Bread Head cutter and accented with a food marker to make the imprint look more like Mr. Willem’s drawing
Bite Sized Apples and Cantaloupe on BOO and EEK picks, in rectangular silicone cups
Annie’s Oatmeal Cookie Bites tucked in on either side of the rectangular cups
Panda Shaped Hard Boiled Egg in a tie dye silicone cup
Blueberries on Zoo Animal Picks in a tie dye silicone cup
Spinach Wrap with Turkey, with a $0.07 price tag drawn on with a food marker, packed on top of roasted banana slices
I can’t explain all of these details without giving away the plot of the book – but I hope that seeing our cute little Alligator and his best friend Amanda will inspire you to pick up “Hooray for Amanda & her Alligator!” and read their story! You won’t regret it!
