The kid finally got to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens this past weekend! For those that haven’t made it yet, there are no spoilers in this post!
I adore Star Wars – all of it – and I have to say, that Chewbacca has seen some things. If anyone should be writing the Definitive History of the Struggle between the Dark and Light Sides of the Force, it should be him. He is one well traveled Wookie, and he has observed and participated in quite a lot! If I ever had a chance to have a cometduster with anyone from Star Wars, I think I’d have to pick Chewbacca as my drinking companion.
Today’s bento lunch features Chewbacca, along with a little Dark Side action!
In our Yumbox panino:
Chewbacca Sandwich, made with a cutter from this reissued Williams-Sonoma set and accented with food markers
Mandarin Orange in a mini silicone cup
Bite Sized Strawberries with a lightsaber food pick, packed in a rectangular silicone cup
Yogurt Ranch Dressing for dipping, in the Sistema container
Hummus, also for dipping, in the center compartment
Sugar Snap Peas with a Stormtrooper cupcake ring
Carrot Sticks with a Darth Vader cupcake ring
Stormtrooper shaped Hard Boiled Egg
Chewbacca Graham Crackers, packed in a mini star shaped silicone cup
I started doing bento as a way to help encourage my kid to eat new foods and try foods that have previously been rejected. I love doing it, and it works great! I wouldn’t normally include multiple dipping options, but today’s lunch features sugar snap peas, an entirely new food for my kid. Packing them with multiple dipping choices and in a lunch featuring a favorite theme will hopefully be enough to motivate my kid to at least taste them. Sugar snap peas will show up in a lot of lunches in the coming days – the more exposure, the more likely it is that they’ll be tried, and hopefully eventually liked!
