I could go on for hours and hours about how many wonderful things our school does each year, but if I had to pick the absolute number 1 favorite school tradition that my kid looks forward to each year, it would have to be chick hatching!
Each year, our school incubates and hatches a number of chicks, keeps them for awhile while they grow, and then finds them homes with the multitude of backyard chicken keepers in our community. There is a group of laying chickens that live at our school as well, along with goats, rabbits and the world’s coolest (in my opinion anyway) mini horse. Today all of our school’s mama and papa hens are on high alert because their baby chicks are ready to hatch today or tomorrow!
Today’s bento lunch gets in on the chick hatching fun!
In our PlanetBox Shuttle:
Broken Egg Sandwich with a Chick popping out, surrounded by golden raisins
Egg Shaped Cheese in a chick silicone cup
Strawberries with a rooster food pick, packed in a mini square silicone cup
Chick Shaped Hard Boiled Egg, made with a Fred & Friends mold, packed in a silicone cup
I can’t wait to see all of the baby chicks later!
