My friends at Goodbyn sent me a beautiful purple Hero to try out and review, and one lucky Bento Ninja reader can win one as well!
The Goodbyn Hero has a lot of my favorite features in a lunchbox. It’s BPA and phthalate free, top-rack dishwasher safe, and it comes in bright, vibrant colors. You can check the colors out here. The Hero also comes with one medium and one large dipper.
Goodbyn boxes are not leakproof, and the dippers are not guaranteed to be either. While I wouldn’t pack a liquid dressing in the dippers for my kid, I do use them quite often for hummus and yogurt with no leaks or spills – just be careful to snap the lids on all the way. The large dipper fits in the large main compartment, while the medium dipper fits in either of the two smaller compartments.
I’m partial to lunchboxes with a large main compartment – the large open space gives me the flexibility to divide it up myself using silicone cups, baran, containers and wax paper in whatever way I need to. While I still love the Byntos, especially for a younger child, I prefer the versatility of the Hero in this area.
The Hero is a delightfully large lunchbox – it can hold almost 7 cups of food without the dippers inside, easily making it one of the largest in my collection. It is a fantastic choice for adults, older children and teenagers, or for younger children who need both a snack and a lunch in one box. The size did make finding the right cooler bag a bit of a challenge, I ended up packing it in one of my PlanetBox bags – Goodbyn offers options that will fit either the Hero or the Bynto as well.
Despite its size, the Goodbyn Hero is lightweight – I definitely will be using this box on hikes over the summer when I need to pack a large amount of food without adding a lot of weight to my backpack.
